ears cut (cone head) general questions.

Post  808oahugirl on Sat Feb 16 2008, 17:55

okay, my baby just got his ears clipped and he has this cone on his head.. i've been using baby wipes and stuff to clean the cone but it still gets dirty.. do you guys know of anything that is better to clean the cone with, i was going to try rubbing alcohol.. and just wipe it inside an out..

also, hes getting these bumbs on his back (my gf said it may be mosquito bites or an allergic reaction), she also said that rubbing oil on his coat may help to make it shinny n nice, what kind of oils do you use?? his next vet apt is on the 19th.. but i dont really like this vet i think shes ripping us off.. so after his shots were going to start taking him to the vet where he got his ears clipped...

please help..

mahalo.

General questions

Okay in regards to his ear clipping, we never saw a problem with removing the cone and just leaving it off. The puppy may try to scratch at his ears but if you watch him you can prevent that. We found it much easier to just leave the cones off and tape the ears. This will also prevent you having to clean the cone as well. To clean the puppies ears we used rubbing alcohol and sometimes neosporin for the parts that looked kind of raw. Both of these methods worked. All of our dogs have beautiful ear croppings.

With regards to his coat. Sometimes they do get bites like that or little bumps. Could be a number of different reasons. However treated the dog with a really good moisturizer should help clear this up. It sometimes goes away on its own but try Olive oil this seems to work wonders on there coats. You can find it at your local pharmacy.

Hope this helps!
